Science: Mrs. Louise Mistry

The 8th graders are continuing to study animals.  They just took a test on invertebrates, focusing on mollusks, arthropods and echinoderms.  The students are learning about the body structure, development and behavior of a large variety of animals.  This week we did a starfish dissection lab and will finish up our dissection labs next week with fish and worms.  The 8th graders are doing a wonderful job with the dissection labs, demonstrating excellent technique and observation skills.  They are working well with their lab groups and are on task and focused during class.   We also completed a classification lab, using a variety of shells from the Sanibel/Captiva area.  Students were able to classify and identify over 30 different kinds of shells.  Next week we will be studying vertebrates, specifically fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
