Language Arts/Reading - Miss Mataloni

The 8th graders turned in their WWII/Holocaust research papers today! It's been a month-long unit of the MLA citation process and the note card research method. The paper is worth a large portion of their grade this trimester and many of the students worked diligently throughout the month. I hope you had a chance to read their final product prior to your child turning the paper in today.

The next two weeks will consist of reading Left to Tell which coincides with the Religion curriculum as well. Students have nightly reading assignments, reading strategies to complete, and an independent vocabulary list to form. If you enjoy reading, I suggest you read along with your child as this book is a wonderful non-fiction experience.

Lastly, each 8th grader is working on a reflective poem and graduation speech. Each student must present their speech to their class for an oral speaking grade. However, it is not required for them to audition for the graduation mass. I encourage you to speak to your son or daughter about this to see if they want to audition to be the graduation speaker this year. Auditions will be next week before and after school Wednesday-Friday.

Enjoy the lovely weather this week!
