The 8th graders are finishing up their WWII/Holocaust Book Club books within the next week. They've been completing various tasks and discussion roles throughout the book. I have enjoyed listening to the groups' conversations and insight. The students have received their final project options/rubric for their novel which can be done independently or with their small group. These projects will be presented and completed by the first week in May.
Starting Tuesday, the 8th graders will begin researching for their research paper topic that also goes along with Mrs. Wallace's WWII/Holocaust curriculum. Topics were chosen today and the students seemed very eager to get started. They will be using the MLA citation format for this paper as well.
In addition to starting their research papers, the students are also starting a grammar unit in effective sentence structure. This should help them with implementing dynamic and useful sentences into their papers.
Lastly, the students have been reading independent selections. These books will be reported on by using a "techy" format. The students have those rubrics and should have been working on the report steadily for the past month. All 8th graders will be presenting these "techy talks" Tuesday-Friday of next week. The 8th graders should be practicing at home as public speaking skills are part of the graded rubric.
Thank you and have a Happy Easter!
